Non-editable files

Electronic files that cannot effectively be edited, changed, or entered into the system of another type of software. Non-editable files are time consuming to translate because they aren’t compatible with CAT (Computer Assisted Translation) tools and often must be translated by a single linguist without the support of the usual technology to improve speed, accuracy, and consistency. Sometimes OCR (Optical Character Recognition) can be used to create an editable file from a non-editable one, thereby boosting translation efficiency.
