FAQs

The purpose of interpreting is to enable accurate in-person, online, or over-the-phone understanding between individuals or groups who speak different languages. This is done through oral translation by trained interpreters.

Several interpreting techniques are available. We have interpreters trained in simultaneous, consecutive, whispered, relay, and liaison/personal (such as escort, ad hoc, administrative, or tutor). We can help you decide which style is best for your needs.

These styles are used for different interpreting situations: virtual meeting moderation, conferences, business meetings, courtroom events, remote, OPI, teleconferences, and interpersonal communication.

Yes, there are clear benefits to working repeatedly with the same interpreter. If you are satisfied with a specific interpreter and they are availabe for your next event, we are more than happy to assign them to your job.

This depends on what your requirements are and the agreement we have made ahead of time. If you feel you need an interpreter for a specific timeframe, we’ll make sure they are 100% available for that time.

For new clients, we request a 50% deposit on interpreting jobs, with the balance due upon completion. For established clients, a deposit is not required.

Yes, in some circumstances. This charge varies, depending on the job and client history. We will make sure you are clear on all fees and cancellation charges before we begin.

Simultaneous interpreting, as the name suggests, is when both the original language and the target language are delivered at approximately the same time. This interpreting mode is often used at formal events with presentations, speakers, and a multilingual audience.

Consecutive translation is commonly used in smaller groups, when the content is more discussion-like and less formal. The speaker pauses after a couple of sentences to allow the interpreter to translate his/her words orally into a target language.

In response to our clients‘ needs, our remote interpreting services and our viritual moderator services have grown a lot during these years of COVID-19 restrictions and concerns. Live, on-site interpreting is still available, of course, when and where COVID conditions allow. COVID-related restrictions have meant we’ve turned frequently to over-the-phone Interpreting (OPI), tele-conferencing, and other long-distance interpreting options.

The positive aspect to this is that our long-distance interpreting equipment, human resources, and processes are even higher quality than they were in the past and broadly available.
