April 2025: Highlights in Remote Interpreting

At Skrivanek, we believe that language should never be a barrier to global progress. In April, our remote simultaneous interpreting services played a vital role in connecting participants from around the world—across languages, regions, and areas of expertise.

From New York to Nairobi, Bogotá to Brussels, our interpreting teams provided expert support for dozens of online and hybrid events that tackled some of today’s most pressing issues: climate change, public health, education, gender equality, sustainable urban development, and humanitarian coordination.

Interpreting Across Continents and Topics

Throughout the month, our interpreters delivered more than 23 hours of live language support in a range of world languages, including English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, and Russian. But these were more than just interpreting sessions—they were moments where inclusive communication shaped decision-making, influenced policy, and supported lasting international cooperation.

Some of the themes we contributed to include:

  • Climate and environmental policy: We supported multilingual sessions focused on emissions monitoring, nature-based solutions, sustainable agriculture, and energy transitions. Interpretation enabled technical experts, policymakers, and community stakeholders to engage fully, no matter their native language.

  • Gender equality and safety: Our interpreters ensured seamless communication during panel discussions and roundtables on gender-based violence prevention, sexual harassment reporting, and safety for women in tourism. These sensitive topics demanded not only linguistic precision but deep cultural awareness.

  • Education and childhood development: In a series of webinars targeting foundational learning and parental engagement, we provided interpretation that helped educators and development specialists share strategies, experiences, and results across regions.

  • Water and sanitation initiatives: Planning sessions for sustainable water management frameworks were conducted across multiple countries in Latin America. Our interpreting teams bridged language gaps to support shared development goals and inclusive national planning.

  • Humanitarian coordination and health: We facilitated communication between decision-makers and grassroots actors working on healthcare and humanitarian responses. Discussions often involved complex funding mechanisms, programme coordination, and cross-border collaboration.

Remote Interpreting That Goes Beyond Language

At Skrivanek, we view interpreting as a craft—one that blends linguistic excellence with deep understanding of people, culture, and technology. For each session, we draw on the experience of a tightly coordinated interpreting team that:

  • Prepares meticulously, reviewing materials, terminology, and event structure.
  • Adapts fluidly to hybrid and virtual formats—whether it’s Zoom, Teams, or a dedicated interpreting platform.

  • Maintains neutrality while navigating emotionally charged or sensitive discussions.

  • Collaborates in real time to ensure continuity, accuracy, and smooth delivery—no matter how complex the event.

Interpreter

We’re especially proud of the fact that clients trust us not only for language skills, but for our ability to truly understand what’s at stake in their work. Our interpreters are selected not just for fluency, but for professionalism, resilience, and subject-matter insight.

Why This Matters to Us

We believe that no meaningful global progress is possible without inclusive communication. Whether the topic is development, education, health, or human rights, the most impactful ideas are those that can be shared, questioned, challenged, and understood by everyone at the table.

That’s why remote interpreting isn’t just a service we provide—it’s a responsibility we take seriously. And April gave us many opportunities to honour that commitment.
